She began at the age of five taking Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Baton Twirling in Hamilton, Ontario. She was a member of the Dorothy Hurst Dance Studio and spent her youth performing in parades, shows and competitions in and around the Hamilton area.
Christina’s first teacher, Dorothy Hurst, introduced Baton Twirling to Hamilton. During this time, Baton Twirling became very popular and Dorothy and her Tigerettes were recognized nationally.
Christina’s interest in dancing and twirling led to her becoming a member of the Hamilton Tigerettes, performing at promotional events and the Pre Game and Half Time Shows at the Hamilton Tiger Cat games. Her group went on to perform at Walt Disney World and also placed second at the Canadian Baton Twirling Championships. After high school, she enhanced her training by studying Classical Ballet privately in Toronto for three years.
Christina's love of dance and her desire to teach proper dance technique prompted her to open her own studio of dance. At Studio C Dance, learning how to dance is more important than learning a dance. In every dance class, the emphasis is on technique so that when it is time to learn choreography and put the technique into a dance, the students are well-prepared and this shows as they develop as dancers.
Community performances are important to Christina and are an important part of Studio C Dance, with all dancers participating in parades, festivals, fundraisers, and other community events.
Helping to develop her students' confidence and self-esteem, as well as showcasing her students' abilities is very important for Christina. At Studio C Dance, class size is strictly kept small so Christina can provide individual attention to each student at each class.
Small class size is unique to Studio C Dance and the only way your child can get the best dance instruction possible. Christina's dedication to teaching dance, using positive reinforcement and encouragement, help her students to progress and develop their skills, both personally and together as a group.
She is currently offering exclusive limited size classes in the disciplines of Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Baton Twirling, Ballroom Dance and Swing Dance as well as Christina's Pre-School Dance program and select Combo Classes.
